On 29 September – 1 October 2025, a delegation from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation attended events of the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, at the invitation of the receiving party.
The forum involved representatives of governments, international organisations and expert communities from over 150 countries and became a major international platform for discussing cultural, educational and sustainable development issues.
Officials from the SCO Secretariat took part in the opening ceremony and a plenary session that defined key priorities, including cultural heritage rights, digital transformation, culture – education collaboration, the economics of culture, preserving the cultural heritage, the climate agenda, as well as culture and peace.
Members of the SCO Secretariat’s delegation also took part in a panel session on issues of culture, education and peacebuilding. The participants exchanged opinions on the role of cultural diplomacy and educational programmes in strengthening collaboration between various civilisations.
