On September 25, 2025, in New York, USA, as part of the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, a delegation from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, headed by Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev, participated in a high-level plenary meeting to mark the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth.
The event was attended by more than 100 delegations from UN member states, international organizations, representatives of public structures and civil society.
The meeting participants were provided with information on the development of relations between the SCO member states in the field of youth policy, education and innovation, as well as on the activities of the SCO Youth Council, the SCO University and other cooperative platforms of the Organization focused on working with the younger generation.
The World Programme of Action for Youth was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1995. It became the first global document setting standards for improving the lives of young people.
