On September 24, 2025, in New York, USA, within the framework of participation in the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, held a meeting with the Acting Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Counter-Terrorism, Head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), Alexandre Zouev.
The SCO Secretary-General informed his counterpart about the interaction of SCO member states on the counter-terrorism track, on efforts to improve mechanisms for responding to security challenges and threats, as well as on the existing documents within the Organization relating to security issues.

The Head of UNOCT highly commended the SCO’s achievements in combating the “three forces of evil” — terrorism, separatism, and extremism — as well as other challenges and threats to security.
An agreement was reached to maintain contacts between the SCO Secretariat and the UNOCT.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
