On September 20-21, 2025, the first World Public Assembly was held in Moscow, united by the theme “A New World of conscious Unity.”
The head of the delegation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat, Deputy Secretary General Piao Yangfan, voiced the greetings of SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev at the opening ceremony of the event. The substantive results of the SCO summit (Tianjin, September 1, 2025) were highlighted, the Organization's significant contribution to the formation of a multipolar world order and the improvement of global governance was emphasized, and the importance of strengthening the cohesion of the Global South was emphasized.
In this context, the relevance of the initiative to promote cooperation in building a new type of international relations, a common vision of creating a community of common destiny for humanity and encouraging the "One Earth" dialogue was confirmed “One family, one future”. The appeal of the Organization's member states to join the SCO Initiative "On World Unity for Just Peace, Harmony and Development" to form an architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia was noted.
In addition, the SCO expressed its readiness to further deepen mutual understanding through the institutions of public diplomacy and friendly public organizations, based on the generally recognized principles of international law, cultural and civilizational diversity, and mutually beneficial and equal cooperation.
During her participation in the Assembly, the Deputy Secretary General spoke at panel sessions on the SCO and the new world architecture. The main principles of the Shanghai Spirit, successes in the field of multidisciplinary cooperation within the Organization, its readiness to join forces with friendly countries, international institutions and public circles in order to build a peaceful, safe, prosperous and environmentally friendly planet were outlined.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, Piao Yangfan held a meeting with Secretary General of the Assembly of Peoples of the World A. Belyaninov. She also gave an interview to the Russian news agency Tass.
The first World Public Assembly was held under the auspices of the Assembly of the Peoples of the World. The event was attended by more than 4,000 representatives of the institutes of public diplomacy, political figures and experts from more than 150 countries.
