On September 16, 2025, the 5th China-ASEAN Health Cooperation Forum on "Towards the Silk Road of Health" was held in Nanning, China, organized by the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the National Administration for Disease Control and Prevention of the People's Republic of China.
The event was attended by delegates from the Ministries of Health of the ASEAN countries, associations and medical associations of China, representatives of the World Health Organization.

In his speech, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization T.R.Midhoon informed about the results of the SCO summit held on September 1 in Tianjin. It was emphasized that the SCO Development Strategy adopted by the leaders until 2035 emphasized the intention of the member states to deepen cooperation and exchange information in the field of public health, promote the development of digital healthcare, telemedicine and traditional (folk) medicine.
The Deputy Secretary General focused on the relevance of biomedical innovations, the development of new medicines, the development of organoid technologies and the digitalization of medical services, which is a response to a request from citizens of the SCO member states in the field of improving the quality of life and promoting health. In this context, it was proposed to join forces with relevant international and regional organizations, including ASEAN, to jointly address large-scale health challenges in Eurasia and Southeast Asia.
The opening ceremony of the China-ASEAN Health Cooperation Center took place within the framework of the Forum.
