On September 10, 2025, the opening ceremony of the new office of the Sputnik news agency in the People's Republic of China took place in Beijing.
The event was attended by Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov, Deputy Director General of the Russia Today Media Group Alexander Yakovenko, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev, Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, and other high-ranking guests. Dmitry Kiselyov, General Director of MIA Rossiya Segodnya, and Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the participants with video messages.
Opening of New Sputnik China Office
In his speech, the SCO Secretary General stressed that Sputnik China is a long-standing reliable partner of the Organization, paying constant attention to its activities and making a valuable contribution to strengthening the SCO's positioning in the international information environment as one of the leading trans-regional associations in the modern multilateral system of international relations. Nurlan Yermekbayev thanked the journalists for their active participation in various events organized by the SCO and its Secretariat, and expressed confidence that the opening of the Agency's new site would be an important step towards expanding the media group's information presence not only in China, but also in the Eurasian region as a whole.
Opening of New Sputnik China Office
Sputnik is part of the international media group Rossiya Segodnya, which represents it abroad. The main product is information tapes in Russian, English, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and Farsi.
