On September 6, 2025, Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, delivered a welcome video address at the joint exercise with the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) “Interaction-2025”.
The Secretary General noted, in particular, that over nearly a quarter of a century the Organization has transformed into a reputable international association, established solid normative-legal frameworks and mechanisms of interaction, and forged partnerships with states, international organizations, and structures sharing common principles and values.

It was stressed that the development of multi-faceted cooperation aimed at maintaining and strengthening peace, security, and stability is one of SCO’s key objectives, enshrined in its Charter.
Nurlan Yermekbayev emphasized that during the meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council on September 1 this year in Tianjin, important documents were adopted, including the Declaration and the SCO Development Strategy to 2035, which defined the main guidelines for further enhancing the Organization’s potential. Also signed were agreements on the SCO Antinarcotics Center in Dushanbe and on the SCO Universal Center for Countering Challenges and Threats to the Security of SCO Member States in Tashkent.
