On September 6, 2025, in Vladivostok (Russian Federation), under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Reshetnikov, the 24th Meeting of Ministers of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities was held.
The heads of delegations held a thorough exchange of views on the prospects for deepening trade and economic cooperation and on the measures being undertaken in this area. In particular, they discussed issues of supporting the multilateral trading system, ensuring the sustainability of supply and production chains, e-commerce and technology development, innovations in trade, as well as sustainable development and the creative economy.

In his address, Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan emphasized the importance of trade and economic cooperation as a key factor for the further development of dialogue and strengthening interaction among the member states. He also noted the results of the Tianjin Summit in the context of the adoption of statements on the further implementation of cooperation in such areas as the digital economy, sustainable energy development, “green” industry, and support for the multilateral trading system.
During the meeting, reports were presented on the activities of the Business Council and the Consortium of Economic Analytical Centers of the SCO.
Following the event, the Joint Statement of the Ministers and the Plan for the Implementation of the Framework Principles of Cooperation of the SCO Member States in the Development of the Creative Economy were adopted.
The next meeting of ministers is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe in 2026.
