On September 3, 2025, after returning from Tianjin, where the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) held its summit the day before, Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev participated in a parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and in the World Anti-Fascist War. The parade took place at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The ceremony was opened by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The main rostrum was attended by the heads of state and Government of 26 countries, including members of the SCO Community, as well as heads of several international organizations.
Following the results of the Tianjin Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a Statement by the Council of Heads of the Organization's Member States on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the formation of the United Nations was adopted among the key documents.
