On August 27, 2025, Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, met with Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Beijing.
A rich exchange of views took place regarding preparations for the forthcoming Tianjin SCO Summit and current issues concerning the development of the Organization.
The Secretary-General highly appreciated the colossal work carried out by the Chinese Chairmanship of the SCO in 2024–2025, expressing confidence that the Tianjin Summit promises to be successful and maximally productive. Proposals were discussed for events related to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the SCO in 2026.
Liu Bin expressed appreciation to the Secretary-General for active assistance to the Chinese Chairmanship of the SCO, and assured unwavering support for the Secretariat’s work.
