On August 27, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, consultations between the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Secretariat of the League of Arab States (LAS) were held. The delegations were led by SCO Deputy Secretary General Ahmed Saidmurodzoda and LAS Assistant Secretary General for Political and International Affairs Khaled bin Muhammad Mansurlavi.
During the meeting, issues of intensifying cooperation between the SCO and LAS executive bodies within the framework of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding were discussed, and a substantive exchange of views took place regarding the approaches of the two organizations to current regional and international agenda items. Particular attention was given to the preparation of the high-level session of SCO and LAS member states on climate change and sustainable energy, scheduled to be held on October 3 of the current year in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the SCO Secretariat and the LAS General Secretariat was signed on September 15, 2022, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
