On August 27, 2025, at the National Museum of China in Beijing, the exhibition “Shining Constellation of Civilizations: Cultural Heritage of National Museums of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States” opened. The opening ceremony was attended by Gao Zheng, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. Among the honored guests were leaders of museums from SCO member states, representatives of the Secretariat, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in China.

In his welcoming speech, Sohail Khan, Deputy Secretary General of the SCO, emphasized that inter-museum cooperation, by bringing peoples closer, deepening trust and friendship, is an integral part of humanitarian interaction within the SCO space. It was noted that the exhibition embodies the decisions of the SCO Heads of State Council meeting held in Samarkand in 2022, on the sidelines of which a Memorandum between the competent SCO bodies on museum cooperation was signed.

The exhibition features more than 220 artifacts, intended to demonstrate the unique history, culture, and spiritual heritage of the peoples of SCO member states. The display provides an opportunity to view artifacts belonging to different civilizations and historical eras.
