On August 26, 2025, in a hybrid format, consultations "Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – institutes of people-to-people diplomacy – SCO Goodwill Ambassadors" were held.
The event was chaired by the Uzbekistan. The discussions were attended by SCO Goodwill Ambassadors, leaders of the SCO China Committee for Friendship, Neighborliness and Cooperation, the SCO Center for People-to-People Diplomacy in Tashkent, the SCO Center for Friendship and Cooperation in Dushanbe, the SCO Cultural-Integration Center in Bishkek, and the SCO National Center for People-to-People Diplomacy in Moscow.
In a message to the participants, Deputy Secretary General of the SCO Batir Tursunov noted the importance of people-to-people diplomacy as a linking element that enriches interstate interaction with humanitarian content, contributing to the strengthening of mutual understanding and trust between peoples. It was emphasized: today one can speak of an effectively built architecture of humanitarian diplomacy within the SCO, while there is room for its improvement.
Participants shared their views on the prospects for developing the toolkit of people-to-people diplomacy and on strengthening interaction between the Secretariat of the SCO, public institutions, and Goodwill Ambassadors.
