On August 20, 2025, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing, Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the People’s Republic of China, Patricia Flor.

The head of the diplomatic mission informed the Secretary-General about Berlin’s current foreign policy priorities, as well as about the European Union’s efforts to develop contacts with multilateral structures operating in Central and Eastern Asia, including the SCO.

Nurlan Yermekbayev, in turn, spoke about the history of the Organization’s establishment, its goals and objectives, as well as preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State and the related events, which will take place on August 31 – September 1 in Tianjin. The open and constructive nature of the SCO’s activities, based on the principles united under the term “Shanghai Spirit,” was emphasized.
The conversation took place in a constructive atmosphere.
