On August 5-7, 2025, in Avaza (Turkmenistan), a delegation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat led by Deputy Secretary General Ahmad Saidmurodzoda participated in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

The event was attended by 13 heads of state and Government, the UN Secretary General, as well as more than 200 delegations of states, international intergovernmental and financial organizations, academic and non-governmental structures.
The participants discussed topical issues of strengthening transport connectivity and trade facilitation, economic transformation, increasing resilience to climate change and environmental challenges, and making progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

During his speech at the plenary session, Ahmad Saidmurodzoda provided information on the work of the SCO member states on the development of the economic agenda, with an emphasis on the formation of an extensive system of transport routes in the Organization's space.
Following the conference, the Avaza Political Declaration was adopted.

Four SCO member states – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – are among the 32 developing countries that have no access to the sea.
