On July 25, 2025, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the People's Assembly House during the ceremony of presenting credentials by ambassadors of foreign countries to China.
The SCO Secretary General thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for the trust shown by him and the heads of other SCO member states. In response, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed support for the comprehensive activities of the SCO.
After the meeting, Nurlan Yermekbayev, together with the ambassadors, listened to the welcoming address of the President of the People's Republic of China. Having informed about the main achievements of China's socio-economic development, Xi Jinping confirmed the Chinese side's readiness to deepen friendship and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the peoples of all countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
The Chinese President called on the ambassadors of foreign countries and the SCO Secretary General to comprehensively and deeply understand China and become envoys of friendship and a bridge of cooperation.
The event was attended by the Ambassadors of Vietnam, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Albania, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Angola, Egypt, Nicaragua, Islamic Republic of Iran, Chile, Ukraine, Benin, the United States, Israel and South Sudan to China.
