On July 29, 2025, the 18th meeting of the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing under the chairmanship of the All-China Youth Federation.
The event was attended by leaders of youth movements of the Organization's Member States. The heads of delegations spoke about the measures being implemented in their countries to support the younger generation, exchanged views on various aspects of cooperation, and came up with new projects and initiatives.
SCO Deputy Secretary General Batir Tursunov addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. He noted that the Organization attaches great importance to the development of youth cooperation, considering it as a priority area. In their joint documents, the heads of the SCO member states invariably emphasize the importance of educating and educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, morality, tolerance, and mutual respect. Special attention is paid to the topic of youth employment, as well as protecting boys and girls from the influence of various negative factors.
It was emphasized that the Youth Council is a key platform for the implementation of the decisions reached by the SCO countries in the relevant area. In this regard, the importance of further intensifying the work of this structure aimed at uniting young people from the Organization's member States based on the principles of the "Shanghai spirit" was noted.
Following the meeting, the chairmanship of the SCO Youth Council passed from the People's Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic.
