On July 23, 2025, in Tianjin, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Sohail Khan took part in the opening ceremony of the SCO Dialogue of Civilizations Forum, organized by the PRC State Administration for the Publication and Dissemination of Literature in Foreign Languages with the support of the SCO Secretariat.
In his speech, the Deputy Secretary General noted that the development of humanitarian dialogue and public diplomacy is one of the priorities of the SCO, as set out in its founding documents.
It was emphasized that the modern world needs the values of respect, dialogue and cultural interaction. Under these conditions, the SCO is becoming not just an organization, but a space of civilizational cooperation based on mutual recognition of identity and the pursuit of harmony.
Sohail Khan expressed confidence that the results of the Forum will be continued in further strengthening trust and mutual understanding between the SCO member states and their joint development.
The forum was attended by about 300 government officials, diplomats, scientists and cultural figures from more than 10 countries. The event featured an exhibition of works by sculptors and calligraphers from the SCO member states.
