On July 23, 2025, the second Meeting of the heads of ministries and departments of the SCO member states cooperating in the field of plant quarantine was held in Tianjin under the chairmanship of the China in a hybrid format.
The Deputy Mayor of Tianjin, Wang Sufeng, welcomed the participants at the opening ceremony of the Meeting, noting the importance of ensuring food and phytosanitary security of the SCO member states.
The heads of the delegations discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection. An exchange of views took place on issues of joint control and monitoring of regulated harmful organisms, the development of common standards and phytosanitary procedures, as well as the application of smart regulation methods in this area.
Following the Meeting, a statement was adopted by the heads of ministries and departments of the SCO member states cooperating in the field of plant quarantine. The document defines long-term cooperation in the field of plant quarantine and phytosanitary security.
