In accordance with the Plan of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member States for 2025, on July 16, 2025, consultations of the information services of the foreign ministries of the Organization's member states were held in a hybrid format on the basis of the SCO Secretariat in Beijing under the chairmanship of the China.
The heads of the delegations had a thorough exchange of views on improving information work and improving the Organization's positioning in the global media space. Director of the Department of Information, Mass Communications and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Mao Ning summed up the preliminary results of the Chinese presidency through the work of the press service and informed about plans to cover the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO member States, which will be held on August 31 – September 1, 2025in Tianjin.
During the event, the Secretariat's report on information support for SCO activities for the period from July 2024 to July 2025 was also presented.
The parties agreed to continue to increase practical cooperation and strengthen coordination through the press services of the SCO member states' foreign Ministries, as well as to take joint measures to counter the spread of disinformation in the media space.
