On June 26, 2024, the fifth Meeting of Energy Ministers of SCO Member States was held in a hybrid format in Ningbo, chaired by Wang Hongzhi, Head of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China. Representatives of ministries and agencies responsible for energy cooperation from SCO member states participated in the event.
An exchange of views took place on the current situation and prospects for the development of energy cooperation within the SCO framework. The heads of delegations discussed pressing issues of ensuring the energy transition of countries and energy security amidst instability in international energy markets.
The 5th Meeting of SCO Member States' Energy Ministers
The heads of delegations approved the draft Statement of the SCO Council of Heads of Member States on Sustainable Energy Development, which will be adopted at the upcoming Tianjin Summit.
It was agreed to continue coordinating the draft Roadmap for the Implementation of the Strategy for Energy Cooperation Development of SCO Member States for the period up to 2030, adopted at the Astana Summit in July 2024.

In his speech, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Khan Sohail highly praised the work of this mechanism as a key SCO platform in the energy sector. The importance of the practical component of energy interaction and the need for joint implementation of projects in relevant areas (wind, solar, hydropower, hydrogen, and bioenergy) were emphasized.
On the same day, the international forum "Innovation and Integration: Energy Defines the Future" was held with the participation of representatives from observer states, SCO dialogue partners, and international organizations in the energy sector.
