On June 23-24, 2025, the 20th Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils (MSSC) of SCO Member States was held in Beijing under the chairmanship of the People's Republic of China. It was attended by heads and responsible officials of the executive bodies of the Security Councils of SCO member states, Mongolia as a representative of an observer country, as well as SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) Ularbek Sharsheev.

Before the event, the heads of delegations were received by Vice President of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng.

During the main session, the parties discussed the current security situation in the SCO space, prospects for joint counteraction to modern challenges and threats, as well as the progress of preparations for the upcoming Tianjin Summit, scheduled for this autumn.

In his speech, Nurlan Yermekbayev shared his vision of the current international situation and the role of the SCO in the process of forming a new, democratic, and just world order. The meeting participants were informed about the main results of the Organization's work in the security track, the political and diplomatic response measures taken to resonant events, and the ongoing work to improve and enhance the effectiveness of the SCO's activities. The priority of the Organization's interaction aimed at ensuring peace, security, and stability in the regional and global context was reaffirmed.

Following the 20th Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils of SCO Member States, a protocol was signed.
The 21st Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils of SCO Member States will be held in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2026.
