On Sunday, 18 May 2025, at the end of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev took part in the Tehran Dialogue Forum.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the Forum.
During the panel discussion, the SCO Secretary-General presented information on the current state and prospects of the SCO development, outlined strategic priorities in the sphere of politics and security, as well as in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, shared his vision of what opportunities the Organization provides to member countries, dialogue partners and observers.

Iran's proactive role in the SCO and Tehran's constructive contribution to the promotion of multifaceted cooperation in the region were separately emphasized.
Nurlan Yermekbayev's speech emphasized the growing authority of the SCO as a platform for multilateral dialogue and coordination of efforts to respond to global and regional challenges.
On the margins of the Forum, the Secretary General gave interviews to several local news agencies.
Tehran Dialogue Forum, an international platform for discussing security, diplomacy and international relations, has been held regularly since 2019. The event is initiated by the Research Center at the Iranian Foreign Ministry. The forum brings together experts, diplomats and other officials from around the world.
