The Meeting of Trade Union Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, organized by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, began its work in Beijing on 15 May 2025.
The event, which is being held for the first time at the initiative of the Chinese side, will include thematic discussions on “Deepening humanitarian exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples of the SCO countries”, “Consolidation of trade union efforts to fulfill the SCO mission” and “Overcoming modern challenges and jointly developing measures to protect workers' rights”.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization Batyr Tursunov noted that holding this meeting within the framework of the action plan of the Chinese presidency is a practical step in implementing the decisions of the heads of the member states in terms of promoting the improvement of workers' welfare.
About Meeting of Trade Union Leaders of SCO Member States
It was noted that the agenda of the Meeting reflects the idea of joint development within the SCO, emphasizes the significant role of trade unions in ensuring the protection of workers' rights and social justice. The Secretariat of the Organization is ready to provide all possible assistance in sharing experience and strengthening cooperation between trade union associations of the member states in the interests of development and prosperity.
The event was attended by heads of trade union organizations of the SCO member states, as well as Mongolia and Turkmenistan.
The meeting will continue until May 16, and the final document will be adopted as a result.
