On May 13, 2025, the 9th meeting of Ministers of Education of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Urumqi, PRC. The event was attended by heads of relevant departments, university rectors, experts, and representatives of the academic community from the Organization's countries.
The heads of delegations exchanged views on current issues of education development in the SCO space. Special attention was paid to improving digital education tools and promoting inter-university cooperation.
In his address to the delegates, Deputy Secretary-General Janesh Kain noted the significant potential of the SCO in the field of education, including in studying best practices, introducing innovative educational technologies, and digitalization. In this context, he emphasized the importance of continuing joint work in this area.
Following the meeting, the general commitment of the Organization's member states to strengthening partnership in multilateral educational cooperation and academic exchanges was confirmed.
