On May 12, 2025, a meeting took place in Beijing between the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the People's Republic of China, Abdelkader El Ansari.
The head of the diplomatic mission highly appreciated the role of the SCO in the modern world and confirmed the previously expressed interest of official Rabat in joining its activities.
For his part, the Secretary-General informed his interlocutor about the development of cooperation within the SCO, the progress of implementing the decisions of the Organization's summit in Astana in 2024, and the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Tianjin. The Ambassador was also informed about the main directions for improving the Organization's activities.
The meeting was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
