On May 5, 2025, the annual wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial to Soviet and Mongolian servicemen who fell in battles during the liberation of northeastern China from Japanese occupation took place in the Zhangjiakou city district, Hebei province, PRC. The event, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was attended by delegations led by the Ambassadors of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Mongolia, as well as officials from the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the leadership of the people's governments of Zhangjiakou city and Zhangbei county, representatives of public organizations, and descendants of the buried soldiers.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Secretaries-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Batir Tursunov and Oleg Kopylov, who laid a wreath at the memorial complex on behalf of the SCO Secretariat, and other employees of the Secretariat.
