On April 18, 2025, during an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Nurlan Yermekbayev, held a meeting in Islamabad with the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, Inam Haider Malik.
The parties exchanged views on the prevention and elimination of the consequences of emergency situations within the SCO region. In particular, they emphasized the necessity of coordinating cooperation within the framework of the Meeting of Heads of Agencies of SCO Member States responsible for emergency prevention and response.
The prospects for the possible establishment of a SCO Humanitarian Assistance Fund for emergency situations in the Organisation's member countries were discussed, aimed at consolidating resources and enhancing the effectiveness and timeliness of aid delivery.
The imperative of continuing close cooperation in the field of emergency prevention and response was underscored.
