On March 18, 2025, in the building of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic – "Yntymak Ordo," the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbaev, was received by the President of the country, Sadyr Japarov, as part of his official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Current issues related to the implementation of multilateral cooperation within the SCO were discussed, including ensuring regional security, economic interaction, and humanitarian exchanges.

The President of Kyrgyzstan congratulated Nurlan Yermekbaev on his recent appointment. He emphasized the importance of strengthening practical cooperation within the SCO in all areas based on the principles of good neighborliness, trust, and partnership. He also stressed the need for the full implementation of the decisions made by the leaders of the member states regarding the modernization and improvement of the organization.
The head of state noted that the Kyrgyz side, guided by the "Shanghai Spirit," would make every effort to contribute to the successful holding of the upcoming SCO summit in Tianjin under China’s chairmanship, aimed at promoting comprehensive and sustainable development of the Organization as whole.

Sadyr Japarov also emphasized the need to enhance interaction between SCO member states in Afghanistan-related issues across a broad spectrum of topics.
Nurlan Yermekbaev expressed his gratitude to the head of state for the warm welcome and highly appreciated the role of Kyrgyzstan in signing the Agreement on Long-Term Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation among the SCO member states, which has become an important contribution to ensuring regional security and stability in space of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Noting the high pace of development in modern Kyrgyzstan, the Secretary-General emphasized the valuable contribution of the Kyrgyz side in promoting cooperation within the Organization. He assured that the Organization's Secretariat will continue to support the implementation of initiatives put forward by the country's leadership in political, economic, humanitarian, and other areas in the interests of enhancing the practical impact of the SCO's activities and strengthening its potential for the benefit of its member states.
