SCO Secretary-General Visits Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant
The Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant, with a capacity of 3,600 megawatts, is being constructed on the Vakhsh River as part of the Vakhsh Cascade and will become the largest hydroelectric power station in Central Asia. The facility will include six hydroelectric units, each with a capacity of 600 megawatts and equipped with radial-axial turbines, two of which have already been commissioned. The plant’s average annual electricity generation is expected to exceed 17 billion kilowatt-hours. Additionally, its 335-metre-high dam will be the tallest rockfill dam in the region.
