On 14 March 2025, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Minister of Defence of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Sobirzoda in Dushanbe.
The Secretary-General congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment and noted Tajikistan's active engagement in the process of interaction, particularly in security and defence.
The Minister commended the constructive role of the Organisation in ensuring stability and strengthening the regional security architecture across the vast Eurasian region. He reaffirmed the commitment to further deepen multilateral cooperation in security in the SCO space.
The parties discussed the development of cooperation within the Organisation, including preparations for the SCO Defence Ministers Meeting, the elaboration of an Agreement on Confidence-Building Measures in the Military Field, joint anti-terror exercises and the training of military personnel.
