On 7 March 2025, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev participated in the 43rd meeting of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) Council in Tashkent.
In his address, the Secretary-General commended the work done by the SCO RATS in countering the “three evil forces.” He stressed that regional structures, including the SCO, are playing an increasingly prominent role in ensuring stability and security, noting the Organisation’s comprehensive approach to ensuring sustainable security, which includes addressing socio-economic issues.
The Secretary-General highlighted the effective and constructive cooperation between the SCO Secretariat and RATS.
Mr Yermekbayev also met with Director of the RATS Executive Committee Ularbek Sharsheev and heads of relevant agencies of the SCO member states on the sidelines of the meeting.
On the same day, Mr Yermekbayev also attended the official reception on the occasion of Ularbek Sharsheev's appointment as Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee. In his congratulatory message, the SCO Secretary-General reaffirmed the Secretariat's readiness to assist the new head of the SCO RATS Executive Committee in carrying out the assigned mission.
