On 1 March 2025 in Harbin, China, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Batir Tursunov took part in the opening ceremony of the SCO Snow Football Championship. The event gathered more than 1,000 participants from 10 countries. Seven football teams from the Organisation's member states competed in the championship and will vie for victory in two qualifying groups.
In his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Secretary General noted that the tournament would make a significant contribution to promoting sports traditions of the SCO countries and represent another step in the development of people-to-people diplomacy within the Organisation.
He also stressed that the SCO Ice and Snow Sports Demonstration Zone in Harbin enhances the prestige of sports traditions.
The championship will conclude on 5 March 2025.
