On 28 February 2025, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev delivered an online presentation on The Origins, Institutional Mechanisms, Goals, Key Areas of Activity, and Development Prospects of the SCO at the Strategic Policy Planning Forum, organised by the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Secretary-General highlighted the increasing interest of Eurasian partners in collaborating with the SCO community and discussed the organisation’s historical evolution, including its founding, institutional mechanisms, goals and objectives, as well as its key areas of activity and future prospects.
The discussion covered the current functioning, improvement, and modernisation of the SCO, along with aspects of international cooperation within the Organisation, including cooperation with countries outside the SCO community.
Nurlan Yermekbayev also sought opinions on the prospects for collaboration between ASEAN and the SCO.
