On 11 February 2025, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the People’s Republic of China Farhod Arziev at the SCO Secretariat.
The Ambassador congratulated the Secretary-General on assuming office and expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to the SCO Secretariat in achieving its current objectives.
The meeting participants discussed the implementation of decisions reached at the 2024 Astana summit, support for China’s current successful SCO chairmanship, and the Year of Sustainable Development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The officials exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including political cooperation and security, collaboration in trade, the economy, culture and humanitarian sphere, efforts to enhance the Organisation’s activities, as well as matters related to the Secretary-General’s planned visit to Uzbekistan.
Nurlan Yermekbayev emphasised that the SCO will continue to develop dynamically, drawing on its experience while incorporating new ideas that reflect contemporary realities.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere, with both officials reaffirming their mutual commitment to support the Organisation’s successful development.
