On 6 February 2025, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev held a meeting in New Delhi with State Minister for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh as part of his official visit to the Republic of India
The officials held an engaged exchange of views on a number of priorities on the SCO agenda, including prospects for attaining the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically in environmental protection, digitalisation, innovations, and cultural and humanitarian interaction as part of the SCO Year of Sustainable Development.

The Indian Minister of State shared India’s priorities in the context of current SCO cooperation in promoting digital and agricultural technologies, developing green energy, encouraging industrial cooperation, and incentivising AI and climate change research.
The SCO Secretary-General focused, among other things, on cultural and humanitarian collaboration. He noted that India had made an important contribution to the SCO agenda by its initiative to launch the SCO Startup Forum and the Special Working Group on Startups and Innovations.
The officials also stated that it was imperative to ensure food security and establish stable supply chains for relevant commodities.
