On 5 February 2025, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev had a meeting with Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar during his official visit to New Delhi.
The officials engaged in a detailed exchange of opinions regarding the entire range of issues on the SCO agenda, including preparations for the upcoming SCO Foreign Ministers Council Meeting and the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting later this year. They also discussed efforts to enhance the SCO’s activities.
SCO Secretary-General meets with India’s Minister of External Affairs
The Secretary-General thanked the Indian side for its significant contribution to promoting cooperation within the SCO during its chairmanship of the Organisation in 2022 and 2023. He noted that India proposed a number of constructive initiatives that are currently being implemented.
The Minister assured the Secretary-General that New Delhi will continue to actively participate in the work of SCO collaboration mechanisms and that it intends to enrich these efforts with meaningful content for the benefit of the Organisation’s development.
The officials discussed issues related to strengthening SCO cooperation to enhance regional security, expand trade and economic ties, foster cultural and humanitarian collaboration, improve transport connectivity, create a financial support mechanism for these activities and upgrade international relations.
