On 25 January 2025, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev had a meeting in Minsk with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov.
The officials discussed prospects for further collaboration between the SCO member states in various areas. They also broached the matter of Belarus sending its representatives for work at the SCO Secretariat.
Maxim Ryzhenkov congratulated Mr Yermekbayev on assuming the position of the SCO Secretary-General and stated that Belarus was committed to rendering full support to the Secretariat. He also confirmed that Belarus was ready to contribute to multifaceted cooperation within the SCO.
SCO Secretary-General Meets with Belarusian Foreign Minister
Mr Nurlan Yermekbayev thanked the minister for supporting the Secretariat, commending the pro-active Belarusian position in promoting cooperation within the SCO and noting the importance of initiatives put forward by the Republic of Belarus. The Secretary-General told his interlocutor about the work and proposals to increase the practical payback from the SCO collaboration and reaffirmed their readiness to cater to the interests of all the SCO member states.
The officials exchanged views on the possibility and ways of the SCO implementing cooperation projects and on the current effort to upgrade the Organisation’s performance.
