On 18 September 2024, Deputy SCO Secretary General Shri Janesh Kain took part in the opening ceremony of the 4th Forum of Heads of SCO Member States’ Regions in Omsk, Russia.
In his remarks, Shri Janesh Kain noted that more profound interregional cooperation meets the interests of all SCO countries, including in the context of exchanging experience concerning the comprehensive development of territories. He said that the range of objectives, linked with facilitating the implementation of border and interregional projects, ranked among high-priority activities, as stipulated by the Development Strategy of the SCO until 2025.
Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko who also spoke at the event noted that the Russian Federation attached great significance to the steady and consistent development of relations with the SCO member states, including those on a bilateral basis and in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual consideration for each other’s interests. It was emphasised that countries of the SCO Family played an important role in the process of forging a multipolar world order because they account for about 50 percent of the planet’s population, as well as for about 33 percent of the global economy’s volumes. Today, when the global economy is experiencing difficulties, and disruptions occur regularly in the global production support chains, the role and significance of interregional collaboration is becoming unprecedentedly important.
