On 13 September 2024, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming took part in the opening ceremony for the 2024 International Medical Conference in Beijing, sponsored by the Chinese Hospital Association.
The opening ceremony was attended by Member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo and Secretary of the CPC Committee of the city of Beijing Yin Li, Director of the PRC National Healthcare Commission Lei Haichao, WHO representative to China Martin Taylor, French Ambassador to China Bertrand Lortholary, and heads of related agencies from a number of countries.
Secretary General Zhang Ming’s remarks focused on the current state and prospects for health cooperation between the SCO member states. He praised China’s efforts to intensify collaboration between the SCO countries in this sphere and declared that the SCO was fully supportive of the healthcare cooperation plan proposed by the Chinese Chairmanship in order to impart new dynamism to the endeavor of creating a SCO healthcare community.
Zhang Ming also had a meeting with Member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo and Secretary of the CPC Committee of the city of Beijing Yin Li and conversed with conference organiser and President of the Chinese Hospital Association Liu Qian.
