On 23 August 2024, Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China, hosted the 2nd Digital Silk Road Forum for promoting cutting-edge technology. This year’s theme focused on exchanging digital achievements and working together to shape the digital future.
The forum’s organisers included the Chinese SCO Committee for Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the Taiyuan People’s Government, and the Silk Road Industrial Internet Promotion Centre.
In his remarks during the opening ceremony, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Nuran Niyazaliev said that this event has established itself as a major platform for exchanging views and best practices on the internet industry and e-commerce. He went on to emphasise that digital technology has penetrated our life in all its aspects. The main objectives when using them deal with improving e-government services for the general public, undertaking industrial projects and promoting a green economy.
The forum’s agenda included launching joint research and technical projects, enabling digital technology companies to sign agreements and contracts, presenting international online platforms, etc.
The forum brought together permanent representatives at the SCO Secretariat, and diplomats from SCO member states’ embassies, including from Belarus, Pakistan, and Tajikistan.
