SCO Deputy Secretary-General Shri Janesh Kain takes part in the 70th meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe

On 8-9 April 2024, a delegation of the SCO Secretariat headed by SCO Deputy Secretary-General Shri Janesh Kain, visited Tirana, Albania, at the invitation of United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, and Minister of Tourism and Environment of Albania Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi. The delegation took part in the 70th meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe.

In his remarks, Shri Janesh Kain provided an overview of the SCO’s efforts in the field of tourism and emphasised the significant tourism potential of the SCO member countries.

Shri Janesh Kain had a meeting with UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili on the sidelines of the event. The discussion focused on the prospects for cooperation between the two organisations, including the extension of a memorandum of understanding between the SCO Secretariat and UNWTO.

Additionally, Shri Janesh Kain met with Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev and Head of Administration at State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kanan Gasimov.
