On 29 March 2024, Tashkent hosted the PRC-chaired 41st meeting of the Council of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, attended by representatives of the security services of the Republic of India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the SCO RATS Executive Committee, and the SCO Secretariat. The Republic of Belarus joined the Council’s proceedings as an observer state.

Apart from the official delegations of the SCO member states, the organisers invited to attend the opening ceremony for the meeting dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the SCO RATS Executive Committee SCO RATS EC Director Myrzakan Subanov (2007-2009), SCO RATS EC Director Jenisbek Jumanbekov (2010-2012), SCO RATS EC Director Yevgeny Sysoev (2016-2018), SCO RATS EC Director Jumakhon Giyosov (2019-2021), and SCO Deputy Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbaev.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr Nurlan Yermekbaev conveyed heartfelt greetings to the SCO RATS director and staff on behalf of the SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming and praised the years-long concerted work by the two standing SCO bodies for the SCO’s benefit.
He drew the attention of the representatives of the SCO Family to the fact that their Organisation resolutely condemned terrorism in all its manifestations and forms. The SCO prioritises an uncompromising struggle against international terrorism and will continue taking tireless efforts in the fight against terrorism, separatism, and extremism in close cooperation with the international community.
