On 18 March 2024, Acting SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Azerbaijani Presidential Foreign Policy Advisor Hikmet Hajiyev at the SCO Secretariat.
The officials exchanged opinions on issues of expanding practical SCO-Azerbaijan cooperation in various fields, including cultural, humanitarian, trade and economic cooperation.
They noted the active involvement of Azerbaijan in various intra-SCO events, including the Year of Tourism 2023, and discussed future plans, especially in the context of the upcoming 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) in Baku.
At the end of the meeting, Mr Yermekbayev briefly explained the work of the SCO Secretariat and discussed its history.
