On 22 December, the SCO Secretariat hosted the Model SCO Youth Conference. The event was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the SCO Secretariat.
The theme of this conference was Towards the Green Economy: Sustainable Development Strategies in the SCO Region.
This time, the conference was attended by representatives of over 10 universities and research institutions from the SCO countries. In addition to SCO delegates, students, research fellows from observer countries, and dialogue partners were invited to participate.
In his opening remarks, SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev noted the important role that the youth played in all the areas of cooperation in the SCO space. The relevance and timeliness of the chosen theme of the meeting was emphasised.
The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the SCO Secretariat Nurlan Akkoshkarov also took part in the opening ceremony.
