SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Voronkov, in New York on 18 September as part of his participation in High-Level Week at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly and an extraordinary meeting of the SCO Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation between the SCO and the United Nations, the security situation in the region and the Afghanistan issue. They expressed a common understanding of the importance of collaborating in the fight against terrorism, extremism and separatism, and noted their readiness to step up cooperation at the bilateral level.
