On 14 March 2023, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Republic of India chaired the 3rdSCO Energy Ministers Meeting via videoconference. The meeting participants exchanged opinions on the current status of the global and regional energy agenda and its possible changes.
Following the meeting, the heads of delegations approved the Joint Statement on Cooperation between SCO Member States on New Fuels and Modelling in the Energy Sector.
Deputy SCO Secretary-General Sohail Khan welcomed the participants on behalf of the SCO Secretariat. In his remarks, Mr Khan noted high-priority spheres of energy cooperation aimed at expanding mutually beneficial collaboration, using all types of energy resources, as well as various economically and environmentally sound technologies within the SCO framework.
The mechanism of SCO Energy Ministers Meetings was established in 2021, and Tajikistan chaired the 1st SCO Energy Ministers Meeting on 12 August 2021 via videoconference.
