On 7 June 2022, Tashkent hosted the SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine themed "Integrating Traditional (Folk) Medicine into Modern Healthcare Systems."
The opening ceremony was addressed by Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bekhzod Musayev, First Vice Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Shoranov, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the PRC State Directorate on Traditional Chinese Medicine Yu Yanhong, and Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Tajikistan Jamoliddin Abdullozoda.
Held in a hybrid format, the forum involved representatives of academic circles, leading specialists on traditional (folk) medicine, rehabilitation therapists, and pharmacists from the SCO member countries.
The SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine has been held since 2020 as part of the effort to implement the initiative presented by PRC President Xi Jinping at the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Bishkek in June 2019.
