The agreement process of the Comprehensive Plan for the implementation of the SCO Treaty on Long-Term Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation has been launched at the initiative of the Uzbekistani chairmanship at the SCO. The draft document was prepared in advance by the Uzbekistani side and submitted for preliminary consideration by the member states.
Work on the document is carried out in the format of meetings between permanent representatives of the member states at the SCO Secretariat. On 9-10 March 2022, the first discussion took place chaired by the Uzbekistani side. Following the meeting, mutual understanding was reached on a significant part of its content.
The plan is expected to be submitted for discussion at the SCO Heads of State Council scheduled to take place this September in Uzbekistan.
The SCO Treaty on Long-Term Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation was signed on 16 August 2007 at a meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council in Bishkek.
