On 17 November 2021, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov attended the Celebration of President Xi Jinping's Works in Languages of SCO Countries. The event held in Beijing was jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and China International Publishing
Taking part in the event were Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the State Council Information Office Xu Lin, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui, ambassadors of the SCO countries and permanent representatives of the SCO member states at the SCO Secretariat.
SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov said in his remarks that the international community, including the SCO countries, were watching "with great interest the achievements of the people of China under the CPC guidance in shaping a modern country despite difficulties and challenges." He noted that the comprehensive initiatives advanced by President Xi Jinping, such as Belt and Road Initiative, had become "the driving force promoting peace and development."
Vladimir Norov spoke highly of China's contribution to the SCO activities, which are based, in part, on the principle of mutual respect for the countries' historical traditions and national identities. He mentioned in particular the five-point proposals President Xi Jinping advanced at the 21st Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State, held in Dushanbe on 15-16 September 2021 on the occasion of the SCO's 20th anniversary.
He expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the hard work accomplished to prepare the publication of Xi Jinping's works, which are a key to understanding modern China based on the use of the ethical principles of ancient Chinese philosophy for dealing with current socio-political problems.
Mr Li Hui expressed confidence that the collection of President Xi Jinping's works, which are on the bestseller list in many countries, would encourage an exchange of views on state governance in the SCO space.
Xu Lin informed those present about the results of the 6th plenary session of 19th CPC Central Committee and emphasised that the Chinese President's book offered all SCO countries an opportunity to learn more about the CPC's current activities in China.
The works by the President of China, including "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" (three volumes), "The Belt and Road Initiative," "Zhejiang, China: A New Vision for Development," "Xi Jinping: Excerpts from Speeches on Relief" and "Poverty Alleviation," have been published in Russian, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek, Hindi, English, Sinhalese and Pashto languages, as well as in the Mongolian Cyrillic alphabet.
